BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Whatcom County continues to set new local records for cases of COVID-19.

The Whatcom County Health Department reports Monday saw a single day record of 423 cases.

Over 960 cases have been confirmed this week.

PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center is also caring for the most COVID patients that they’ve seen at any time during the pandemic.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shudhakar Karlapudi says they don’t expect the number of cases to peak until mid to late January.

He and other health officials continue to urge people to get vaccinated or boosted, to wear masks and practice good hygiene.
