OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Health has begun publishing reports on COVID-19 reinfections.
A reinfection is when a person who has contracted the virus that causes COVID-19 is infected again.
Those include people who have not been vaccinated and those who have been both partially or fully vaccinated.
Statistics from September through December find there were 4400 reinfections out of more than 265,000 cases.
Of those 223 were hospitalized and 22 died.
Almost 60% of those who were reinfected were unvaccinated.
The department is publishing the information weekly on its COVID-19 data dashboard.
