WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – President Joe Biden has declared a major disaster and ordered federal assistance for Whatcom County and other communities affected by the November floods.

The declaration will make federal funding available to Whatcom County, the Lummi Nation, and the Nooksack Tribe after the flooding and landslides in November.

These recovery efforts will help with individual assistance and hazard mitigation after the worst natural disaster in Whatcom County since 1864.

The grant includes temporary housing and home repairs, as well as low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses.

There will be other programs to help individuals and businesses recover.

Individuals can register with FEMA for an inspection for their homes .
