FERNDALE, Wash. – An elderly driver from Bellingham was killed when she ran a stop sign and was hit by a semi on Slater Road Tuesday morning, January 18th.

The State Patrol reports 81-year-old Margaret Keehn was driving south on Ferndale Road at about 11:30 when she missed the stop sign at Slater.

An eastbound semi driven by a Bellingham man hit her vehicle.

She wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

WSP has also identified the man killed in a Skagit County car accident last night.

Investigators said in a statement that 66-year-old Mark Meyer of Sedro-Woolley was driving through the Blanchard area around 8:30 pm.

Meyer’s car failed to stay on the road as it approached a curve, went over an embankment, and came to rest in a ditch near SR 11.

Meyer was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other cars or passengers were involved in the crash.
