WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Flooding in November and recent blasts of winter weather have been a challenge for many, but especially for local animal owners.
“There’s not a lot of grazing land for horses and cows and goats and pigs and chickens, and things like that,” said Whatcom Humane Society Executive Director Laura Clark. “And there’s a lot of people in our community that might need a little extra help.”
Clark said a generous donor and a local supply store have enabled them to help those owners keep their animals fed.
“They can come to the Whatcom Humane Society. We’ll give them some coupons for hay or grain. They can take them to a CHS store and redeem them for that,” said Clark. “Then hopefully over the next couple months, that can help them feed their animals so they don’t have to rehome their animals and their animals don’t have to suffer.”
Get the coupons during business hours at the Whatcom Humane Society at 2172 Division Street in Bellingham or from an animal control officer in the field.
Their phone number is 360-733-2080.
She thanks the donor and CHS for making the project possible and says other donations are gladly accepted at the Humane Society’s website
