BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham K-9 team and several witnesses tracked down a muddy burglar over the weekend.
Bellingham Police said in a Facebook post that officers were tipped off by a witness about someone trying to break into a storage container on East Bakerview Road early Saturday morning.
As officers were investigating a car near the container, the suspect, who had been hiding, jumped out from nearby bushes and fled the scene.
A K-9 unit was dispatched to track down the suspect through a wooded area, and officers recovered several clothing items, including shoes and a jacket, but no suspect.
Hours later, another witness called 9-1-1 to report a muddy and shoeless man standing in their driveway.
The man, identified by Whatcom County Jail records as 25-year-old Navjot Singh, was taken into custody.
Investigators later recovered two duffle bags left near the storage containers, which were filled with stolen guns and ammunition.
