WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Crews are making progress on county roads damaged in the November floods.
After 12 culverts failed, washing away a 40-foot section of Birch Bay-Lynden Road near Ham Road, two 10-foot diameter culverts have since been installed.
Crews have completed the work building up the embankment around the new pipes.
On South Pass Road east of Everson, geofoam blocks have been constructed to stabilize the hillside.
A landslide there caused significant damage.
GeoEngineers have also completed a temporary road repair for Goshen Road after a steep slope failed.
Work on South Pass, Birch-Bay Lynden and Goshen Roads is expected to be done by mid to late February.
