OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington State lawmakers are considering a sales tax holiday for Washington shoppers.
A House bill would suspend the sales tax on certain qualified items over Labor Day weekend in September.
Those items would include clothes, computers, efficient appliances, some health care equipment and over-the-counter drugs.
Cars, boats, travel, dining out, and marijuana or alcohol are among purchases that would not be eligible for the tax break.
Sponsors of the measure, including Alicia Rule of the 42nd District and Alex Ramel and Debra Lekanoff of the 40th, say the goal is to help families and retailers who have struggled during the pandemic.
