WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Preliminary results are in from Tuesday’s special election in Whatcom County.
So far, 59% of voters in the Bellingham School District have voted in favor of a $122 million bond that would finance several construction projects.
That includes renovations in several buildings, as well as the construction of a new elementary school.
The district estimates it would add about $17 per month to the average Bellingham homeowner’s tax bill
And 56% of residents who voted in Birch Bay said “yes” to funding a new library.
The bond measures in Bellingham and Birch Bay require 60% approval to pass.
In Ferndale, 59% of voters also approved a Levy Replacement to pay for on-going programs and operations.
That levy only requires a simple 50% majority to pass.
The county will release more election results this afternoon, Wednesday, February 9th.
