BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Pro tip: if you find yourself behind bars, don’t try to solicit a bribe from jail.

Court documents state that 55-year-old Wade Dickerson initially contacted a shooting witness from the Whatcom County Jail in January.

Dickerson told the witness that in exchange for $150,000, he would exonerate a man accused of shooting him in July 2021.

The witness said that after Dickerson’s release from prison, he offered to meet up with them to discuss the payment.

Dickerson admitted to investigators that he called the witness for the money because he felt entitled to it after being shot.

He was taken back into custody on Thursday, February 17th, where he is being held on $50,000 bail.
