KILLARNEY, Ireland – Another icon of Seattle’s grunge music scene has died.

The Seattle Times reports Screaming Trees front man and grunge pioneer Mark Lanegan passed away at age 57.

He co-founded the Screaming Trees in Ellensburg in 1985 and he and the band helped define the music Seattle would become known for.

Lanegan launched a solo career and was a member of Queens of the Stone Age for several years after Screaming Trees disbanded in 2000.

His official social media says he died at his home in Ireland but doesn’t provide any other details.
