BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Burlington felon is behind bars in Whatcom County after refusing to play nice over a parking spot.
Court documents state that officers met with the victim on February 4th at Sportsman’s Warehouse on the Guide.
The victim told officers that as a car was backing out of a parking space at the store, he noticed the driver of that vehicle nodding off.
He honked to wake up the driver, parked, and got out of his car as the other vehicle returned to the spot.
That driver, identified as 34-year-old Dustin Owen, threatened to shoot the victim in the leg following a brief confrontation.
Investigators say that’s when Owen retrieved and pointed a handgun at the victim before leaving the area.
Later that month, officers attempted to pull him over, but he was able to get away.
Owen was finally arrested on Friday, March 11th, and remains in the Whatcom County Jail on $105,000 bail.
