BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Police have arrested a man after he crashed a stolen car filled with stolen property.

Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy said that police were called to the scene of a car accident in the 3600 block of James St on Thursday afternoon, March 24th.

A check on the car’s license found that it had been stolen the day before from a Bellingham apartment complex.

Officers arrived to find the driver, 27-year-old Tyler Jurich, trying to escape the area.

Jurich was later found in a wooded area by K-9 Rudy and taken into custody.

Investigators found scores of stolen items inside the car, including two shotguns and military gear, along with dozens of items reported stolen from vehicle prowls and burglaries.

The military gear belonged to a former Army soldier whose storage unit was ransacked.

Jurich had recently been released from jail for a separate stolen vehicle charge.
