BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man who was hit by a car while riding a lawnmower on Samish Way in February has died.
The King County medical examiner’s office confirms Hartwell Mitchell passed away.
His family says on a GoFundMe page that Mitchell was a Navy veteran and retired City of Bellingham fire fighter.
They say he died on March 7th.
Police haven’t identified the hit-and-run driver.
The family is asking for donations as Mitchell was the primary caregiver for his wife of 60 years, who suffered a stroke several years ago.
