BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Police have arrested a suspect in a deadly hit-and-run crash earlier this year.
Lt. Claudia Murphy said that 28-year-old Sam Kuljis of Bellingham is accused of hitting a man on a lawnmower on Samish Way on February 11th.
Hartwell Mitchell, who was crossing the road on his lawnmower when he was hit, died from his injuries in early March.
Witnesses told investigators that Kuljis didn’t stop after hitting the 80-year-old man.
Kuljis was identified as the primary suspect after a repair shop confirmed that the damage on his car was consistent with the February crash.
Officers located and arrested Kuljis on Monday, April 4.
