FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. – The fire that tore through historic buildings in downtown Friday Harbor early Thursday, April 7th, damaged more businesses than first thought.

A spokesperson for San Juan County Fire says a total of six buildings sustained fire damage with three a total loss.

There were six businesses in the totaled buildings including a tavern, wine bar, coffee shop, kayak tour business, real estate agency and private offices.

Many other businesses remain closed in the area around First and Spring Streets due to the effects of smoke from the fire.

Initial damage estimates are up to $10 million.

An investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
