WASHINGTON PASS, Wash. – Washington State Department of Transportation crews have wrapped up their third week of work clearing the North Cascades Highway.
Workers from the east and west are separated by about 13 miles.
Crews from the east have cleared the Cutthroat avalanche paths and are preparing for a week of work on the three largest Liberty Bell chutes.
Workers from the west have reached milepost 150.
The department estimates they’ll need another two to three weeks to clear the entire stretch of Highway 20.
