WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Warmer temperatures have heralded some good news for Whatcom County park-goers.

The county’s Parks and Recreation Department announced that parts of Hovander Park have reopened as of this (Wednesday) morning.

Those areas include the boat launch parking lot, Nooksack River Trail, and some dog off-leash areas.

Officials said that the restroom facilities at the park will remain closed, but a portable restroom is available at the boat launch lot.

Hovander Park has been fully closed since November due to flood damage.

Restoration on other areas of the park will continue, with an anticipated completion date sometime in mid-May.
