OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington Supreme Court has unanimously ruled against a petition to recall Governor Jay Inslee on Thursday, April 28th.

The ruling upholds the Thurston County Superior Court decision declaring that there was no factually or legally sufficient grounds for a recall.

Citizen group “Washingtonians to Recall Inslee” drafted the petition, saying Inslee infringed on their rights with the restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The court found no merit to the claims, expressing that the Governors proclamations were well within his emergency powers.

State Supreme Court Justice Debra Stevens explained, “While reasonable minds may disagree with the governor’s decisions, such disagreement is insufficient to support a recall.”
