BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Port of Bellingham has delayed its vote on increasing slip rates in Blaine and Squalicum harbors.
Commissioners were set to vote on the price increase at a meeting two weeks ago, but concerns over a lack of public input forced the delay.
The proposed model was presented again at their May 3rd meeting, detailing a 3 to 6 percent annual increase based on the size of the boat or slip.
A director for the marinas told The Northern Light the increase would allow the port to improve dock and facility maintenance and increase security.
The vote is expected to be held at the next port meeting on Tuesday, May 17th.
