WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The average price for gasoline has now topped four dollars in every state in the union.

AAA says the price for regular in the three holdout states, Georgia, Oklahoma and Kansas has now topped the four dollar mark for the first time.

But Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy.com says the high prices are not keeping us off the road.

“Americans aren’t slowing down consumption,” said DeHaan. “Demand continues to go up even as prices are at record levels. I certainly don’t see long-term sizable relief in gas prices. I think we’ll stay with prices that are over $4.00”

He says refineries can’t keep up with demand and Russia’s war in Ukraine will also keep oil prices high.

Our average price in Bellingham has been holding steady at a record $5.16 per gallon for several days.
