WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Fire restrictions will soon be back in effect across the Pacific Northwest.
The Bureau of Land Management announced that the restrictions will go into effect starting this Friday, May 27th.
Guests on public lands will not be allowed to set off fireworks, ignite sky lanterns, or set off any sort of incendiary devices until further notice.
Shooting at any metallic objects, including metal targets, is also prohibited.
The decision comes as drought conditions persist across both Washington and Oregon.
The BLM is also hoping their decision will deter wildfires that are started as a result of human error.
