FERNDALE, Wash. – A fugitive who fired off gunshots in Ferndale was arrested in Blaine following an overnight manhunt.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deb Slater said that a man was brazenly firing a gun in the 3800 block of Bay Road at about 6:30 p.m. Monday night, May 30th.
A witness copied his license plate number as he fled the area, and deputies later found the car on Harborview Road in Blaine.
The suspect, 31-year-old Michael Gubser, tried to drive his car through a field, but got stuck and fled on foot.
Around 1:15 a.m., a nearby resident reported a male hiding in a lean-to shed on his property.
Gubser was taken into custody and investigators later recovered three firearms in his vehicle.
He was also listed as a fugitive out of California.
