BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Some criminals try to change their clothes when running from law enforcement.

Two recent suspects in Bellingham tried to see if that method worked in a rather unusual way.

Court documents state that Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to pull over a car with no license plates on the Guide around 9 p.m. on May 23rd.

The car sped off, but witnesses were able to track down the car in a parking lot off Cordata Parkway.

Witnesses said that a man and a woman ran out of the car into a nearby restaurant, where they asked at least two customers if they could swap clothes with them.

Both customers refused and the suspects bolted into the restrooms, where they were eventually located by police.

The male suspect, 28-year-old Ravon Diggs, eventually admitted to driving the stolen car.

Diggs also had a warrant for a separate stolen vehicle and burglary case.

The female suspect gave deputies a fake name and has not been identified.
