OLYMPIA, Wash. – A group attempting to challenge the results of Washington’s 2020 election are now being ordered to pay up by the state Supreme Court.
Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced that the Washington Election Integrity Coalition United (WEICU) owes over $28,000 in sanctions to the state as a result of the lawsuit.
The majority of those sanctions are being tacked onto the group’s lawyer, Virginia Shogren, who personally has to pay nearly $19,000.
Ferguson described the lawsuit as one that completely lacked any legal merit.
Shogren and WEICU filed the lawsuit after the 2020 election, claiming that thousands of ballots were altered without any evidence to back up their claims.
WEICU has also filed separate local lawsuits in eight counties, including Whatcom.
