BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Serious trouble, and likely some serious pain, for a 17-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself while driving drunk.
Lt. Claudia Murphy says a friend called police on Saturday night, June 4th, and said he was in a car with the boy near downtown when he displayed a handgun.
The gun went off and the shot hit the boy in the leg.
He dropped the friend off on North Forest Street and drove himself to the hospital.
Responding officers found beer cans and the gun in the car the boy had been driving and evidence that he was intoxicated.
The boy faces gun, alcohol possession and DUI charges.
