WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – A second body has been recovered following a rafting accident near Glacier.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deb Slater says the commercially-operated raft overturned in a rapid on the North Fork of the Nooksack River Tuesday afternoon.
The raft guide was able to bring two women out of the water to safety, but two men were swept downstream.
Rescuers recovered the body of the first man in a log jam later that evening, half a mile from where the raft flipped.
The second man’s body was found Wednesday afternoon, just west of Glacier.
Drowning has been determined to have caused the of death for the first man found and is the presumed cause of death for the second man.
Both found wearing helmets, wet suits and life jackets.
Neither man has been publicly identified.
