BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Single-use plastics are on their way out for Bellingham businesses.
Starting July 31st, businesses will no longer be allowed to offer plastic utensils, plates, or cups for in-person dining.
Instead, they must offer reusable or compostable options.
The new rules also prohibit hotels and other lodging businesses from providing travel-sized toiletries, such as shampoo and lotion.
For local businesses who need help transitioning from single-use plastics, a local organization is offering their support.
Sustainable Connections will host two virtual Q&A sessions on June 27th and 29th on how businesses can get help making the switch.
