OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Inslee has issued a directive prohibiting the State Patrol from assisting any out-of-state investigation into legal abortion in Washington state.

It orders WSP to deny cooperation to any law enforcement agency, public entity or private party and to report any requests for assistance.

Inslee says anti-choice leaders are already working to punish people who seek abortion services in other states following the Supreme Court decision vacating Roe vs Wade.

But he says Washington will remain a sanctuary for the procedure.

Inslee is reminding all state and local law enforcement agencies that state law prohibits them from prosecuting or penalizing anyone for getting a legal abortion.
