BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Attorneys for a Bellingham woman who was convicted in the killing of her boyfriend’s daughter have requested a new trial.

Court documents state that Kamee Dixon’s defense attorneys submitted the request on July 6th.

Earlier this month, Dixon was found guilty of homicide by abuse in the death of 3-year-old Hazel Homan in 2019.

Her attorneys claim that the jurors did not fully understand the definition of torture, which jeopardized Dixon’s right to a fair trial.

A hearing date has been set for July 18th.

Dixon is scheduled to be sentenced on August 2nd.
