BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A recent arrest in Bellingham led police to a hefty amount of illegal drugs.

Police said that the victim was assaulted by a group of people in the 1000 block of North State Street on Saturday, July 16th.

The victim told investigators that at least one of the people who beat him was wearing brass knuckles.

Police later determined that the suspect was 22-year-old Rene Nima, who was arrested without incident on Sunday afternoon.

Nima was searched and officers recovered a loaded gun, over 1000 fentanyl pills, and nearly $3000 in cash.

Nima remains behind bars at the Whatcom County Jail on $50,000 bail.
