SEATTLE, Wash. – A King County elections official has asked the sheriff to investigate after signs were posted near ballot boxes warning voters they were under surveillance.
Elections Director Julie Wise says the signs are part of an intentional strategy to intimidate voter.
The signs also include a QR code linked to the King County Republican Party website.
Wise says her team is documenting and removing the signs and will refer any information on who planted them to the sheriff’s office.
King County Republican chairman Mathew Patrick Thomas says he is disbanding the party’s so-called “election integrity committee” and admitted its members were involved in printing and planting the signs without his knowledge.
