FERNDALE, Wash. – Frustration is growing in Ferndale as mail service delays continue and now two local members of congress are wading into the fray.

U.S. Representatives Susan DelBene and Rick Larsen sent a letter to the Postmaster General, saying complaints range from delayed mail deliveries including needed medications, long post office lines and election ballots not being delivered or picked up.

The service blames a staffing shortage, but the representatives say there are short term measures it could take to retain and hire workers.

Among questions DelBene and Larsen have for the postmaster are what steps congress can take to help USPS address staffing shortages.

They also want to know what the USPS is doing to fix the problem as the August 2nd primary approaches and ballots need to be delivered.

Some Ferndale residents say they go days without receiving mail and when it does come, they only get paper mail.
