BELLINGHAM, Wash. – You can expect to live a little longer than people in most other states, as long as you take care of yourself.
The CDC has released data on life expectancy in 2020 and Washington state residents had the second longest at 79.2 years.
That’s right behind Hawaii at 80.7 and just ahead of Minnesota at 79.1 years.
Mississippi had the lowest life expectancy at 71.9 years.
The bad news is that overall, life expectancy in the U.S. dropped 1.8 years from 2019 to 2020.
That’s the biggest drop since World War II.
The CDC attributes it to the COVID-19 pandemic and unintentional injuries, primarily drug overdoses.
