BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Some have reported hazy skies and a smell of smoke in the air but Whatcom County Emergency Management says there’s nothing to worry about at this point.
The closest wildfires in our region are in North Cascades National Park but they are relatively small.
Small fires are also burning in the mountains above the Frazer Valley in British Columbia but they aren’t producing a lot of smoke.
The Northwest Clean Air Agency says the particulate level in Bellingham is right between “good” and “moderate.”
Air quality has dipped into the “moderate” range in Whatcom County’s Columbia Valley.
A Stage 1 burn ban remains in effect in Whatcom County, prohibiting most outdoor burning except recreational fires under approved conditions.
