SEATTLE, Wash. – Amtrak service in Washington state is getting back to normal after a tentative labor agreement averted a strike by freight railroad workers.
WSDOT says Amtrak Cascades service between Seattle and Eugene, Oregon resumed on Thursday, September 15th.
Long distance Empire Builder and Coast Starlight trains from Seattle will get back into service Friday, September 16th.
Amtrak and its workers were not involved in the negotiations, but its trains run on tracks owned and operated by freight lines.
Amtrak Cascades train service is scheduled to resume through Bellingham on September 26th after being shutdown during the pandemic.
