BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Ferndale man is dead following hit and run crash on I-5.
The Washington State Patrol said that the man, who was riding a motorcycle, was hit by a car on I-5 northbound near Lakeway Drive just after 9 p.m. Thursday, October 6th.
The rider was ejected and landed in the roadway as the car sped off.
A man driving an SUV pulled over onto the left shoulder to check on the rider and called 911.
A northbound semi then hit both the rider and the SUV.
The motorcyclist, 45-year-old Joel Hansen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two drivers were not injured.
I-5 northbound was fully closed for several hours as troopers investigated the crash.
