MOSCOW, Idaho – The family of a young man from Skagit County who was among four University of Idaho students who were stabbed to death over the weekend wants to know more about what happened.

Twenty-year-old Ethan Chapin’s father, Jim Chapin, said in a statement that the lack of information from law enforcement “further compounds our family’s agony after our son’s murder.”

Adding to the mystery, Moscow Idaho, Police Chief James Fry told a news conference on Wednesday, November 16th, that officers found two people alive and unhurt in the off-campus home on Sunday, November 13th.

“I’m not going to go into what they shared that night,” said Fry. “That’s part of our investigation. That’s part of the information that we’re trying to build the complete story with. So, as far as that goes, we’re not going to any further into what they know and don’t know.”

He said the killer or killers remain on the loose and backtracked on an earlier police statement that there is no on-going threat to the community.

The other victims are Madison Mogen and Kaylee GonCalves, both from Idaho, and Xana Kernodle of Arizona.

Many students have left the university out of fear, and a candlelight vigil scheduled for Wednesday will instead be held after the Thanksgiving break.
