BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Local governments and other agencies are letting people know where to find them if Twitter goes silent.

New owner Elon Musk’s demand that workers go “hardcore” or resign with severance has caused an exodus of Twitter employees, prompting concern that the social network will collapse.

The City of Bellingham tweets that it can be reached on its website, which includes a list of its other social media pages.

WSDOT and other state agencies say they are available on other platforms, their websites and their apps.

And some are having fun with the possible demise of Twitter.

Gig Harbor Police ask people to not call 911 if Twitter fails as they do not know how to fix it.

And the City of Ferndale tweeted that it is ready to reveal the culprit behind the Metallica logo on the railroad bridge, but the tweet dies before the person is named.
