BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Ferndale man charged in connection with a 2020 stabbing death has been sentenced.
32-year-old Zachary Tellez pleaded guilty to rendering criminal assistance and felony burglary charges on October 18.
Tellez will spend just over two years in jail, followed by 18 months of probation as the result of an earlier plea deal.
In April of 2020, Tellez and Kali McConnell went to get painkillers from McConnell’s father, Dale Henefin.
Following an argument between the two men, McConnell stabbed Henefin in the back.
Henefin later died from his injuries.
McConnell was sentenced to 17 years in prison in June 2021.
