MOSCOW, Idaho- Seemingly conflicting statements from officials in Moscow, Idaho have caused more confusion over the murders of four University of Idaho students.

On Wednesday, the county prosecutor’s office released a statement that the “suspect (s) specifically looked at this residence, and that one or more of the occupants were undoubtedly targeted.”

The police department later stated that they don’t know if the “residence or occupants were specifically targeted,” and that the prosecutor’s statement was the result of a “miscommunication.”

However, police on Thursday said they do believe the attack was targeted but they don’t know if the residence or the individuals were the target.

They continue to hold most information about the November 13th killings close to the vest.

A candlelight vigil was held on the campus for Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen Wednesday evening.
