The Western Washington Vikings defeated West Chester University 2-1 to win its second NCAA Division II National Championship in front of a crowd sold-out crowd at Interbay Stadium in Seattle.

Freshman Claire Potter chipped a floater to the left side netting in the 82nd minute to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Vikings to the victory in dramatic fashion. Potter had previously assisted Tera Ziemer in the 14th minute for the first goal of the game.

The Vikings outshot West Chester 25-3 to cap off a stellar season for the team in which they went 19-2-4. They ended on an eight-game winning streak, culminating in a title game win to add to their first championship back in 2016.
