BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Whatcom County Health officials are encouraging people to mask up once again.

With cases of COVID 19, RSV, and the flu surging, the Health Department is now recommending that people wear a face mask while indoors.

They are also urging people to stay up to date on their vaccinations and booster shots.

If you do fall ill, health officials say you should stay home and test for COVID-19.

Adults 65 and older, as well as children under the age of five have the highest current rates of hospitalization for the flu.

Booster shots aimed at omicron variants of COVID-19 are now authorized for children as young as six months.

The Washington State Department of Health says the updated boosters are now available for young children who have received the first two doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to get their children boosted or to begin initial vaccination if they have not already.

Flu vaccines are also authorized for children six months and older.
