BELLINGHAM, WASH. – When it comes to the healthiest counties in Washington, Whatcom County ranks in the top five.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin teamed up to rank the health of nearly every county across the 50 states.
When looking at longevity and how healthy people feel, Whatcom County is fifth in the state, with San Juan County taking the top spot.
However, Whatcom falls to seventh place in a separate ranking of overall health factors such as health behaviors and clinical care.
In both health rankings, the top ten healthiest counties are mostly in Western Washington.
