OLYMPIA, WASH (AP)- Volkswagen is paying more than $157 million to settle lawsuits over the company’s diesel emissions-cheating scandal.
The money will go to Washington and nine other states.
The settlement is separate from a $603 million agreement reached last year.
Volkswagen admitted to programming diesel engines to activate pollution controls during tests, but turning them off for roadway driving.
The company has paid out more than $20 billion to buy back or repair cars and pay fines and settlements.
