OLYMPIA, WASH (AP) – Governors from the first four states to legalize recreational marijuana, including ours, are asking the Trump administration to let the pot experiments continue.
Jay Inslee joined the governors of Alaska, Colorado, and Oregon in saying marijuana legalization has expanded their economies.
The governors also say legal weed can be regulated to protect public safety and are asking the Treasury Department not to change instructions to banks for handling marijuana money.
Whatcom County already has dozens of pot-related businesses, including growers, processors and retail stores.
No word on what happens to those ventures if the Trump administration cracks down on legal marijuana.
