Two members of the Long Beach State baseball program are joining the Bellingham Bells this Summer. Catcher Ryan Mendoza from Van Nuys, Calif. and right-handed pitcher Tyler Radcliffe from Long Beach, Calif. will suit up for Bells during the 2017 West Coast League season.
“We’ve heard some great things about both Tyler and Ryan,” Bells’ Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Jim Clem said. “Both are talented, both are hard workers, and both are great guys! We are excited to have them play for us this summer.”
Radcliffe is a redshirt sophomore for the Dirtbags, who has made two appearances this season for LBSU after sitting out the 2016 season with an injury. As a freshman in 2015, Radcliffe made 13 appearances out of the bullpen for the Dirtbags, fanning 11 batters in 12 innings on the hill.
Mendoza is in his first season with LBSU in 2017 after a successful prep career at Birmingham High School. Mendoza hit .372 as a senior for the Patriots, en route to earning first team All-League and All-City honors.
Radcliffe, Mendoza and the 2017 Bells start the season June 2nd against the Gresham GreyWolves at Joe Martin Field.
