OLYMPIA, WASH. (AP) – Lawyers for six states, including Washington, seeking to overturn President Donald Trump’s travel ban want the government to cooperate with any subpoenas.
Trump’s revised travel ban is already blocked by a federal judge in Hawaii, but a case filed by Washington and five other states continues.
The states want all emails among people in the Trump administration and third parties preserved, including ones from before he took office.
The Justice Department opposes the deposition of any high-ranking government officials.
It also argues the case should be put on hold until the Hawaii suit is decided.
