SEATTLE, WASH. – Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch may actually be coming out of retirement.

The Seattle Times reports he told Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio he wants to play for them.

The NFL Network reports that could be the final step for Lynch’s return.

Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll said last month that he’s not sure how viable a Lynch return would be.

“It depends on how he’s approached this off-season; He looked OK. The mentality that it takes to play this game the way he plays the game, he has to really be invested and ready because he goes deep when he plays. Whether or not that’s still in him and the burn is still there, I couldn’t tell that from talking to him,” Carroll says.

The next step for Lynch, if he’s serious, is applying to the NFL for reinstatement.

If that happens, Lynch would be a Seahawk and the team would need to trade or release him for Lynch to become a Raider.
