BELLINGHAM, WASH. – A Bellingham man is injured in a DUI crash on I-5.
The State Patrol says Felipe Sanchez of Sedro-Woolley was driving northbound on I-5 near Ferndale at about 9:45 Monday night when he tried to pass a pickup truck in front of him and moved into the left lane.
The pickup, driven by Steven Vinson of Bellingham, also moved into the left lane, hitting Sanchez’s car on the passenger side.
Sanchez spun out and hit the pickup, causing both vehicles to end up in the median.
Vinson was taken to the hospital.
Troopers believe drugs or alcohol were involved, and arrested Sanchez for driving under the influence.
He faces a vehicular assault charge.
